Mercedes GLB Entering Production in 2019
Mercedes-Benz plans to bring its baby G-wagon to production by 2019.
Likely called the GLB, the German automaker’s smaller version of its rugged G-Class SUV is due to enter production in September 2019 and will be offered as a seven-seater. According to a recent report, the company was mulling over two different bodystyles during early development stages and decided on the long-wheelbase format in order to compete with other seven-seater competitors in the marketplace.

As we previously reported, the GLB will blend the G-Class visuals with the B-Class proportions and GLA-Class dynamics. The standard model will come with front-wheel drive while 4MATIC four-wheel drive will be available as an option.
Built on the German automaker’s next-generation MFA2 architecture, which currently underpins the A- and B-Class models, the GLB will feature three-cylinder powerplants from Renault while Mercedes will take care of the four-cylinder offerings.
