Tony Stewart’s Case Heading to a Grand Jury

A grand jury will decide if Tony Stewart will face criminal charges after the crash that killed Kevin Ward Jr.

Last month, a tragic accident involving Stewart and Kevin Ward Jr. resulted in Ward Jr.’s death and the question of Stewart’s involvement will now head to a grand jury. The decision was made by the Ontario County District Attorney Michael Tantillo, who has opted for a grand jury to decide whether criminal charges will be brought on Stewart.

According to a report, Tantillo would not give a specific timeframe as to when a grand jury will meet or when a decision will be released due to the confidential nature of the proceedings. Stewart will be racing this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

“Upon my review of all of the information contained in the entire investigation, I have made the determination that it would be appropriate to submit the evidence to a grand jury, for their determination as to what action should be taken in this matter,” Tantillo said in a statement. “Accordingly, the evidence developed in the investigation will be presented to an Ontario County grand jury in the near future.”
