Scion’s SEMA Showcase: FR-S, tC and xB
Scion just unveiled the lineup of vehicles it’ll be showing off at SEMA next week. The brand’s tC, xB and FR-S models have received some notable aftermarket attention.
Targa-Top FR-S
The FR-S is a dedicated sports car that has become a darling of automotive journalists and enthusiasts alike. Adding another dimension to this coupe the folks at Cartel Customs have created a special T-top version.
The first thing you’ll probably notice about this show car is its arresting paint; it’s a custom hue called Azzuro California Blue. The car has also been lowered and rides on 19-inch forged wheels.
Upping its performance this hot FR-S features a GReedy turbo kit, coil-over suspension, Wilwood brakes and a kickin’ audio system. So far we like what we see … A LOT.
Slayer tC
The tC, Scion’s other coupe, has received some aftermarket love as well. The Slayer version of this front-wheel-drive two-door is a rolling homage to this hard-hitting metal band. Accordingly it features a custom paint job with airbrushed logos and skulls, suicide doors, a billet slayer sword and spike-style center caps.
Inside it’s amped up with a custom Pioneer sound system and a massive 32-inch monitor for media playback. Sounds like a rockin’ time.
Riley Hawk xB
Injecting some retro flair into the Scion booth is the Riley Hawk xB. Built by firm KMA Productions it’s a vehicle inspired by the skateboarding legend of the same name. This boxy hatch is fitted with a wood-grained interior, shag carpeting, a mini fridge and one of Pioneer’s ground-pounding sound systems. For true retro credentials it also features an 8-track player.
Fish-bowl side windows and plush-upholstered captain’s chairs further the 1970s feel while a motorized, rear-facing monitor is solidly 21st century. The side exhaust pipes are, disappointingly, non-functional.
