2015 Corvette Z06 Gas Mileage Released

The next great American supercar makes 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque and as you probably guessed, goes through gulps of gasoline.

But up until now, it would have been guessing and nothing more because official fuel economy figures weren’t available. Now the official rating for the 2015 Corvette Z06 shows that you can expect 13 MPG in city driving, 23 MPG on an open road or 16 MPG in mixed driving with the eight-speed automatic transmission.

That might come as a disappointment after last January when Chevrolet announced that the hi-po Vette would offer cylinder deactivation to save fuel, but keep in mind that it’s also roughly on par with other high output, big engined American performance cars. In fact, that’s the same average fuel economy as the 707-hp Challenger Hellcat is rated to return. The Z06 is also supposedly capable of ripping to 60 MPH in under three seconds. Numbers like that put it in the same tier as animals like the Porsche 911 Turbo S, if only in straight line acceleration.

The gas mileage estimates for the Corvette are specific to the automatic model and Chevrolet hasn’t made an announcement through its usual channels about overall fuel economy yet. Figures in this story come directly from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency website.
