Audi Quattro Coupe Could Still be Coming
Audi’s development of a spiritual successor to the iconic Quattro coupe.
Marc Lichte, the brand’s design boss, confirmed during the L.A. Auto Show that work on the car is still in progress during an interview with AutoCar. Audi first showed a concept preview of the car during the 2010 Paris Motor Show, followed by the Sport Quattro concept (pictured) during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The production version will be loosely influenced by both of those concept cars, but much more aggressive looking in production form, Lichte said.

It still isn’t clear what Audi plans to use to power its upcoming homage to past performance considering the first concept used a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that made 408 hp while the version that followed had a 4.0-ltier V8 mated to a hybrid system with a total system output of 700 hp. The second concept was also especially heavy with a curb weight of roughly 4,000 lbs. Despite that, it could hit 62 MPH in only 3.7 seconds.
