Subaru Hits Sales Goals Ahead of Schedule
Subaru is enjoying a boom in sales thanks to its Forester and Legacy models.
The Japanese automaker has revealed that it will reach its mid-term sales goal in North America at least three years ahead of schedule, expecting to sell 600,000 units by 2016 or 2017 instead of 2021. It is likely that Subaru will announce a new mid-term sales target afterwards, according to parent company Fuji Heavy Industries CEO Yasuyuki Yoshinaga. Fuji Heavy Industries is also forecasting a third consecutive year of record profits.

The company originally set an annual sales target in May of 1.1 million units by March 2021, with North America consisting of 600,000 of those units. Fuji Heavy also plans to increase overseas production to account for nearly 40 percent of its total capacity by March 2021, hoping to reduce the sensitivity of swings in foreign exchange rates.
