2015 BMW 6 Series Debuts with Subtle Redesign
BMW has given its third-generation 6 Series a subtle refresh for the 2015 model year.
At first glance, it may be difficult to tell just what BMW has changed on its 6 Series models, but we’ll have to believe them that all three variants have been updated. The front end does sport subtle changes to the iconic kidney grilles, reducing the number of bars from 10 to nine. According to the German automaker, the standard Adaptive Full-LED headlights now include “a newly developed, sophisticated design for the light sources.” The indicators on the twin-round headlights are now integrated into the accent strip cutting across the top of the units. In addition, the front apron on the stylish model along with the mirrors have been newly styled while the rear apron has been enhanced with a chrome strip on the bumper trim while the six-cylinder models now have larger surrounds for the exhaust tips, which are also larger in size.
Inside, the changes are just as refined and subtle with the 6 Series receiving a high-gloss black surface on the center console around the controls for the audio system. Slim chrome surround can be seen on the iDrive’s operating system’s freestanding Control Display while the frameless design of its glass cover gives it a more contemporary, yet sophisticated style. Shoppers will be able to opt for either Dakota or Nappa leather for the interior including two-color varints such as Ivory White/Black and Cognac/Black. A new trim option has been added to the 2015 BMW 6 Series, Fineline Brown Wood.

Under the hood, the 2015 BMW 6 Series will carryover its powerplants from the previous third-generation models which means the 640i will come with a 315-hp turbocharged inline-six engine while the 650i will be equipped with a V8 engine churning 445 hp. Of course the M6 will make a return packing an M TwinPower Turbo V8 with 560 hp. And just like before, the 6 Series will be available in coupe, convertible and four-door Gran Coupe bodystyles with optional M Sport Edition and BMW Individual features available.
