Aston Martin Recycles Old Parts for New Cars

Aston Martin is building history in a new set of special edition cars by using pistons sourced from its classic cars. 

Aston Martin has announced a very limited run of just six special-edition Vanquish models to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its Newport-Pagnell Works facility. The very first of the 60th anniversary edition cars was revealed at a company Christmas party and features a white exterior complete with yellow accents along with special-edition badging. Each one of these cars will be highly customized and individual, although one feature will be the same in all of them.

Aston is sourcing the metal for the center console knobs from the pistons of historic Aston Martins. One piston will be used in each one of the six cars, all of which celebrate a certain era. The six pistons come from each one of the following cars: 1955-1965 DB 2/4 Mk II saloon1, 1965-1975 DB5, 1975-1985 V8 Coupe,  1985-1995 V8 Vantage X-pack, 1995-2005 V8 Vantage supercharged and the 2005-2015 Original Vanquish.

The piston will come from an engine that needed rebuilding, so each one was an actual working park in an Aston Martin engine at one point. Each one of the metal rings will have special 60th anniversary wording laser-etched into it.

Power for the special edition Vanquish stays the same at 565 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque from a 6.0-liter V-12 engine. Both the Volante and Coupe versions of the Vanquish will be offered among the six bespoke special edition cars.
