Cadillac CT6 Styling Won’t Stray From Current Formula

Cadillac intends to make a big splash with its new CT6 flagship sedan, but don’t expect it to come from its styling.

GM product development chief Mark Reuss says the CT6 will have “the world’s most advanced body structure,” but that doesn’t mean it will also come with revolutionary styling. According to the American automaker’s global design head, Ed Welburn, the CT6’s styling will carry on Cadillac’s current design language which features angular lines, vertical headlights and tail lights.

Though it’ll be “different and it will certainly stand out in the portfolio,” according to Welburn, we shouldn’t expect a real shift in design direction with the flagship sedan. More importantly, Welburn confirmed that the Elmiraj concept’s styling is “more of an influence on some other things we’re working on for Cadillac,” so we can expect the sleek, stylish coupe to influence future Cadillac models.

The Cadillac CT6 is expected to go on sale in late 2015 or early 2016 and is being developed to take on the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class, among other large luxury sedans.
