Google Reveals ‘Fully Functional’ Self-Driving Car
Google has unwrapped the first real build of its self-driving vehicle prototype, just in time for the holidays.
While it may resemble the first self-driving car the tech giant showed off earlier this year, the company is calling this one its first “fully functional vehicle,” sporting headlights and other essential features like steering and braking. Of course, the self-driving car is also packed full of sensors and computers for autonomous driving and the company will be spending the next few weeks putting it to the test.

The prototype looks more refined than Google’s first iteration, though it still sports the same overall design and style. The company hopes to hit the streets of Northern California in the new year but will still have temporary manual controls in case a driver needs to take over.
