Drivers Will Pay Up to $1,500 For In-Car Tech

Technology is becoming a staple of modern cars and customers are willing to spend a pretty big chunk of cash to get it.

According to a Harris Poll, the majority of U.S. drivers are willing to pay up to $1,499 to have high-tech features in their cars. Among the top priorities for drivers are USB ports, backup cameras and smartphone charging according to the online survey of 1,033 vehicle owners.

Drivers say that they are even willing to wait up to a year to get the technology they want, although those features need to be easy to use, while 39 percent of auto buyers polled say that in-vehicle technology is a top selling point. In comparison, just 14 percent said that horsepower and handling are a top selling point.

In-vehicle wireless internet is also becoming a very popular option, with 48 percent of respondents expressing a desire to have the technology.

The trend of increased technology in our automobiles can be seen at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, where a record 10 automakers are exhibiting new car concepts and technology wares.
