Honda Rolling Out Turbo VTEC Engines This Year

Honda is drawing much closer to offering an enthusiast focused vehicle in the U.S. with a turbocharged VTEC engine.

Like many other automakers, Honda will be using turbocharged four-cylinder engines in various models to help achieve better fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance. The Japanese automaker will be investing $340 million into its Anna, Ohio engine plant to add a third assembly line as well as other upgrades to the factory.

Unfortunately the company remained mum on how much power the turbocharged four-cylinder engines will make. The 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder in the upcoming Civic Type R is expected to crank out around 300 hp, although Honda hasn’t officially confirmed the figure.
