Jaguar Land Rover to Offer Diesel Engines Across US Model Range

On the eve of the Detroit Motor Show, Land Rover has announced it will offer diesel engine options on two of its models, but that is only the start.

Not only will all future Land Rover models receive diesel engines, but so will the entire Jaguar range – with the exception of the F-Type sports car.

The first Jaguar model to offer diesel engine technology will be the new XE sports sedan. The car will use an all-new 2.0-liter 4-cylinder and Jaguar announced during a press preview in Detroit that it is confident the car’s highway fuel economy number will be at least 40 mpg.

As for diesel Land Rovers, a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 diesel engine will be available in the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport starting later this year.

The new engine will deliver 254 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque at 1750 rpm while getting 22 mpg city and 28 mpg highway for a combined 25 mpg, an improvement of 32 percent.
