Next Volkswagen Tiguan to Arrive in 2017

Volkswagen’s next-generation Tiguan compact crossover won’t make an auto show debut until late 2016 at the earliest.

CEO Michael Horn told Australian outlet Caradvice.com.au that the new crossover will show up sometime in late 2016 or early 2017 followed shortly thereafter with a launch. The second-generation Tiguan will ride on VW’s MQB architecture and will grow in length to about 185 inches, or roughly 10 longer than the current vehicle. That will translate into more interior space and greater cargo volume along with a small third row of seats, the site reports.

Volkswagen plans to produce the new Tiguan at its Chattanooga, Tenn. assembly facility, which is also where it will build the larger mid-size crossover also to be MQB-based.
