VW Golf R Touch Revealed with New Interface and 3D Gestures
Volkswagen is giving its Golf R a high-tech conceptual interior to go with its high-performance powertrain.
Unveiled today at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show is the Golf R Touch Concept featuring a futuristic cabin.
The Golf R Touch has three high-resolution screens, including two touch-sensitive displays in the center console. These two operate the infotainment and HVAC controls while a large screen sits in front of the driver, replacing the usual cluster of gauges. Essentially, Volkswagen replaced all of the physical buttons its production car uses with touchscreens.

VW is boasting a very fast response time for the screens, which can be customized with various backgrounds like a smartphone. The most important part of the Golf R Touch is its gesture based controls. Instead of touching the screens or controls, you can wave your hands or point your fingers to operate the screen or function. Even the sunroof in the concept car is governed by gesture controls.
The company achieved all of that by using an in-car camera designed to reduce the need to look for a button or switch.
