2016 Toyota Avalon Drops Bug Eye Headlights
Toyota revealed the 2016 Avalon today in Chicago with refreshed styling and mild mechanical changes.
Most noticeably, the headlights have been replaced by LED units that also have a new shape. It also has a wider and lower front grille, revised turn signals and a chrome accent on the rear bumper. Toyota also tweaked the suspension to offer a choice between a more comfortable or sportier ride.
Power still comes from a 3.5-liter V6 that makes 268 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque or a hybrid powertrain with 200 total HP courtesy of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder linked to a hybrid powertrain.
The XLE and XLE Plus trims also come with updated standard equipment lists that include new 17-inch alloy wheels, Toyota’s seven-inch Entune infotainment touchscreen, woodgrain in the dashboard and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Meanwhile, the slightly sportier Touring trim gets 18-inch alloys, a revised front fascia meant to make the car look a little meaner and new LED daytime running lights.
Finally, Toyota’s top-of-the-line “Limited” trim level gets its own 18-inch wheels for gasoline models or special 17-inch wheels with the hybrid. It also adds convenience features like automatically adjusting high beams, adaptive cruise control, a lane departure warning system and a pre-collision system.
Toyota didn’t announce pricing for the refreshed model today, but the company said they will go on sale later this year in the fall.
