AutoGuide Now for the Week of Feb 9

Autoshows, premium cars and turbocharged muscle is on the menu this week. Here’s what we’re up to at AutoGuide.com

2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoostMike Schlee, Road Test Editor: “This week I’ll be driving the 2015 Ford Mustang Ecoboost. Having sampled it briefly in the fall, I look forward to a longer stint behind the wheel. Having a powerful, manual transmission, rear-wheel drive sports car in the dead of winter is going to fun!”

2015-buick-verano

2015 Buick VeranoLuke Vandezande, Managing Editor: “This week I’m going to be driving a premium compact sedan you might have forgotten about: the Buick Verano. Buick’s compact sedan comes with either a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder that makes 180 hp or a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that makes 250 hp. It competes most directly with the Acura ILX, but that car comes with more standard power this year than before and a new transmission. Buick hasn’t given any major updates to the Verano yet. Will they need to soon?”

2015 GMC CanyonStephen Elmer, News Editor: “Our long-term evaluation of the new GMC Canyon continues. This week, I’ll be testing how this truck works for the outdoor enthusiast by loading up my snowmobile and all my gear. Make sure to check out the long-term series for a comprehensive look at the new midsize truck from General Motors.”

Chicago-Auto-Show

2015 Chicago Auto ShowCraig Cole, Associate Editor: “In case you hadn’t heard, the Chicago Auto Show is this week and predictably I’ll be in attendance covering all of the latest reveals. Now, by automobile the Windy City is about five hours away from Detroit but instead of driving (and putting up with winter weather, toll roads and hellacious traffic) I’m taking the train. Amtrak will be shuttling my clammy carcass all the way from lovely Royal Oak, Michigan to Union Station in downtown Chicago via the Wolverine Line. Stay tuned for insightful Twitter updates as I make my way across the Midwest.”
