Mercedes-Benz SL417 Mille Miglia Pays Homage to Stirling Moss

Mercedes-Benz has a special treat heading next month to the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

Unveiled ahead of its official debut in Switzerland, the Mercedes SL417 Mille Miglia pays homage to the 60 years since a 300 SL took the crown in the production sports cars class at the 1955 Mille Miglia, a nearly 1,000-mile cross-country race. Sporting race number 417, driver John Fitch and co-driver Kurt Gessl crossed the finish line at 4:17 am after 11 hours, 29 minutes and 21 seconds of racing. The team took fifth place overall in the overall standings while other production 300 SL cars also took second and third in the class.

The special edition model not only has the legendary number 417 integrated into the badge, but is highlighted by stylish red accents. The shade is found on the lip of the front spoiler while a red trim strip can be seen on the rear spoiler, contrasting the matte carbon. Red brake calipers shine bright behind the black AMG Performance wheels that will come 19 inch in the front and 20 inch in the rear.
