Koenigsegg Regera Megacar Makes 1,500 Hybrid Horsepower
Forget supercars and hypercars, Koenigsegg has just unveiled what it calls a “Megacar”!
Truth be told, Koenigsegg already coined that term with the debut of its One:1 model, and now the Swedish supercar maker is continuing to up its performance game.
Called the Regera (Swedish for “to reign”) Koenigsegg claims this beast makes over 1,500 hp thanks to a combination of gasoline and electricity. A twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 engine is mated an electric motor making 221 lb-ft of torque while each rear wheel is powered by individual electric motors making 192 lb-ft each.
Those motors also allow for electronic torque vectoring, helping the Regera cut corners with speed.

A plug-in hybrid, the electronic components do add roughly 330 lbs of weight compared to the Agera RS model. It would be much more but to offset the heft the Regera makes use of a single-speed direct drive transmission that shed weight.
So how fast is it?
Well, forget 0-60 times, Koenigsegg claims this car will hit 249 mph in under 20 seconds!
Koenigsegg will reportedly make just 80 Regeras and sell them for the astronomical sum of $1.89 million!
