Lamborghini Planning Lightweight, RWD Huracan

1

Lamborghini is planning a Huracan model to take on the new Ferrari 488GTB.

The Italian automaker will be giving the Huracan a diet, while shedding the all-wheel drive equipment for rear-wheel drive to take on the new Ferrari and McLaren 675LT. According to a report from Australia’s Motoring, Lamborghini has also confirmed it will develop a cheaper rear-wheel drive Huracan model that will carry the LP610-2 nameplate. It appears that the news came from Lamborghini chief test driver, Giorgio Sanna, who revealed the details to British magazine Evo prior to the Geneva Motor Show, at the launch of the LP620-2 Super Trofeo race car in Malaysia.

Sanna said at the event that the spiritual heir to the Gallardo Superleggera will follow in the footsteps of the Ferrari 458 Speciale, which is a lightweight version of the Huracan with more power and a focus on tearing up the track. Expect the news to be formally announced by Lamborghini sometime next year.
