McLaren Sport Series Teased in Video
The entry-level McLaren model is set for a New York Auto Show debut, but that won’t stop the British sportscar maker from teasing its new darling one more time.
This video played at the end of the the brands press conference in Geneva, giving us the best view of McLaren’s 911 Turbo fighter yet. Just 20 seconds long, we can see that the car uses a familiar front-fascia as the new 675LT and P1, but a slightly updated, rounded rear end.
During the press conference, McLaren Chief Executive Officer, Mike Flewitt explained that the company will have three tiers of cars. We already know the “Super Series” which includes the 675LT and 650S. The company also defined its “Ultimate Series” which is made up of the McLaren P1 and P1 GTR. The Sport Series will round out the selection with a range of more affordable models. It’s expected to cost around $200,000.
Rumors have hinted that a a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 will power the Sport Series with an output of over 500 hp. In order to keep costs down, the Sport Series likely won’t have the active aerodynamics or adaptive suspension setup like the 650S. Check out the video below to see the prototype model frolicking in the snow.
