Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman Lords Over Other Limos

The newest Mercedes-Maybach vehicle has so much style, it needs an extended wheelbase to fit it all in.

Of course it’s the S600 Pullman, a limousine version of the already opulent Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. But why is this a special machine? Well as you can see, it’s three and a half feet longer than a garden variety S-Class and that gives it the space necessary to offer the kind of cabin you probably imagine when someone mentions the Maybach name.

The rear interior compartment has four seats facing each other, although you can opt for even more room and only two forward facing chairs if that’s more suitable. Then again, the thought of referring to any part of this car as unsuitable seems downright silly. The “Executive” seats, as they’re called, offer a ridiculous range for reclining and the leather they are upholstered with is just magnificently soft.

A twelve-cylinder biturbo heart beats under the hood pumping out 523 hp and 612 lb-ft of torque.

Now, the point of this thing isn’t so much to go fast, even though it can certainly do that. No, the point of the Pullman is pure luxury above all else. After all, Mercedes means for this thing to carry political leaders from place to place. Accordingly, it can be outfitted with optional body armor that transforms this German super sedan into a true beast.

But it also isn’t crude. There is a glass partition that can be raised or lowered and toggled between being clear or opaque by borrowing the same technology Mercedes uses for its “Magic Sky Control” glass panel roofs.

Mercedes says it designed the doors to the passenger compartment to make getting into and out of all four seats easier than it used to be in its older stretched limousines. Similarly, the seats are positioned strategically in relation to the roof pillars to give passengers privacy from prying eyes in traffic.

Without the extra cladding, the S600 Pullman will start somewhere between $500,000 and $600,000.
