Scion iM Previewed by 2015 Toyota Auris
Toyota has revealed its new Auris, a vehicle that is on its way to North America with new badges.
Shown at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the facelifted Auris previews the Scion iM which will make its official debut at the New York Auto Show in early April. Sold internationally, the Auris is offered with three engine options including two diesel variants and a turbocharged 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine. The Auris is also available with a hybrid powertrain. It’s unclear if any of those powertrains will make it to the US market.
Design-wise, the Toyota product isn’t expected to transform radically when it arrives on our shores as a Scion. The Toyota product sports sharp wing-like headlights, LED accents and daytime running lights and a lower grille that spans the width of the front bumper. Inside the car has a dashboard design that’s reminiscent of the Toyota Corolla. Clean and simple, the cabin uses soft touch materials to help deliver a more upscale feel.
One of the more significant upgrades to the 2015 Auris is with the suspension and steering, which are said to improve ride comfort, handling and driver engagement. Toyota also took measures to reduce the amount of sound and vibrations in the cabin.
