Audi on Demand: A Rental R8 Delivered Right to Your Doorstep

1

Audi is launching a new beta program in San Francisco that will allow you to rent the German automaker’s vehicles.

Called Audi on Demand, the service is controlled by an iPhone app which allows you to request an Audi vehicle which will be delivered and picked up by an Audi concierge. Customers will have access to the nearly the entire Audi lineup, from the A4 sedan up to the R8 supercar. Cars can be booked for up to 28 days at a time.

The vehicle, which can be equipped with optional extras such as a ski carrier or a baby seat, can be delivered anywhere within San Francisco. Customers can meet with the concierge to go over functions of the car upon delivery, or the vehicle can be dropped off and picked up at a predetermined location with no meeting taking place. Vehicle functions, such as locking the doors and starting the engine, will be controlled using the app and or a special Audi key card.

Customers will pay $200 for a day in an A5, A6, or Q5, while the Allroad can be had for $165 a day. Supplemental Liability Insurance is provided by Audi and is built into the cost that shows up natively in the app. All gasoline purchases must be covered by the customer.

Those looking for more thrills will be subject to a 200-mile daily driving cap that applies to the Audi S7, A8, S8, R8 Coupe, R8 Spyder, and all RS models. Going over will cost an extra $1.0 a mile for both R8 models or $0.50 a mile for the others. Booking an RS 5 will set you back $440 a day, while Audi’s halo sports car, the R8, will cost $1,195 a day.

Drivers must be 25 years of age or older and hold a valid U.S. driver’s license. Pickup and drop off services are available seven days a week from 7am to 8pm.

Audi says the program will be rolled out into additional U.S. cities in coming years.
