The VP of Global Product Development for General Motors is making bold claims about the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro.

In a recent interview with Fox News, Mark Reuss said he’s “very confident” that the new Camaro will be more efficient, faster and better handling than the new 2015 Ford Mustang. Naturally it’s hard to believe that Reuss would say anything else about the sports car, especially since the Camaro and Mustang have been fighting it out for decades. But he did add that he personally drove them back to back recently and is likely one of very few people that have.

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will make its debut on May 16 at an event in in Detroit’s Belle Isle Park and although much of its details are still under lock and key, the American automaker has released teasers of the car and it is known that it will be built on the same platform underpinning the Cadillac ATS coupe. Expect the new Camaro to weigh at least 200 lbs than the current model, a reduction that would give it a similar weight as the new Mustang.
