Shell Working on New City Car Concept
Shell is working together with race and road car designer Professor Gordon Murray to design a new city car concept.
The car, codenamed project M, will be a lightweight city car designed to be as fuel efficient as possible. The concept car will will revealed in November, 2015.
“We believe this Shell car, will demonstrate how efficient a car can be when Shell works in harmony with vehicle and engine makers during design and build, supplying fuels and lubricants technical expertise. Shell is excited to be working with such top calibre partners and invite others to join us for the remaining part of this exciting journey,” said Selda Gunsel, VP of lubricants technology.
In testing, the car has already been able to achieve 97 mpg. There are no plans to actually produce the city car, which is simply a showcase for optimal fuel efficiency in a city car.
