Toyota Engineers Taking on One Lap of America in Scion FR-S
Toyota engineers will take on this year’s One Lap of America endurance race with a Scion FR-S.
The Japanese automaker has announced that two Production Engineers (PE), Anthony Maganoli and Stephen Byington will participate in this year’s event, which takes place from May 2 to May 9 in a specifically-built TRD Scion FR-S. Both engineers have extensive professional racing experience and will be supported by an additional 10 PE Team Members and Co-Ops working together to prepare the vehicle for the race.

The 3,456-mile race will start at South Bend, Indiana on May 2 and will be stopping at racetracks in Omaha, Denver, Pueblo, Fort Worth, Plano, Tulsa, Bowling Green and finish off where it started in Indiana on May 9. Toyota will share the experience across its social media networks and will be posting racing footage, in-car video and photos from each day’s activities on Facebook and Twitter.
“Toyota Production Engineering’s participation in the One Lap of America is part of the company’s unique approach to developing its young engineers,” said PE Manager Phillip Ryan. “Lessons in teamwork and problem solving learned during this race and others, ultimately makes better engineers which results in better vehicles for our customers. This is an exciting opportunity that Toyota PE presents its Team Members.”
