GM Trademarks ‘Krypton’ and ‘Camaro Krypton’

The new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro may be starring in an upcoming movie.

GM Authority has spotted two new trademarks filed by General Motors, one to register “Krypton” and another for “Camaro Krypton.” The applications for the two trademarks were filed on May 5, 2015 with Krypton being assigned for “Motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles, sport utility vehicles, trucks and vans,” while the Camaro Krypton trademark was more specific to “motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles.”

Krypton is a colorless, odorless noble gas that occurs in trace amounts in the atmosphere and is often used with other rare gases in fluorescent lights. In the fantasy world, Krypton is known as the home planet for Superman with Kryptonite being the super hero’s only weakness.

This hints that a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro could make an appearance in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie. Fortunately, we only have a few more days to wait until the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro makes its official debut on May 16 at Belle Isle.

Just remember, automakers often trademark names that never get used to protect future products. But considering that the new Camaro debut is around the corner, it’s likely that the Camaro Krypton will be a real thing.
