Porsche 918 Spyder Recalled for Wiring Harness Issue

Porsche 918 Spyder owners have to make another trip to the dealership.

The hybrid supercar has been recalled yet again as a precautionary service inspection that affects 223 vehicles in the U.S.

According to the German automaker, the Porsche 918 Spyder’s wiring harness for a radiator fan could potentially be damaged by a carbon fiber component. Vehicles affected were manufactured up until the end of April 2015. Porsche dealerships will examine the wiring harness and will remount it to a more optimal position in the affected cars.

The cause of the recall was originally identified after a detailed examination of inquiries. Since, Porsche has taken corrective measures during manufacturing of the 918 Spyder and owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted directly by Porsche Cars North America. Vehicles that need to be fixed will likely have to remain at the shop for half a day and all repairs will be done free of charge.

The Porsche 918 Spyder has been recalled multiple times already, most recently to fix an issue with the chassis. An older recall was for an issue with the exotic’s rear control arm.
