Subaru BRZ tS Arrives in Japan With STI Goods

6

The Subaru BRZ tS has been unleashed in Japan.

According to Subaru Tecnica International (STI), the Subaru BRZ tS is an STI-tuned package that achieves both “agile handling performance evoking a racing car” and “a high-quality ride” at a high level. Although it’s not quite the turbocharged BRZ STI model that enthusiasts have been hoping for, STI did outfit the rear-wheel-drive sports car with a plethora of goodies.

The modifications start with a selection of suspension upgrades including STI-tuned front suspension and coil springs, rear damper and coil springs, lateral link with pillow ball bushings, flexible V-shaped bar, and a flexible draw stiffener. Brake upgrades include 17-inch Brembo front disk brakes with four-piston calipers while the rear also has 17-inch rotors matched to two-piston calipers. The unique wheels are STI-designed 18-inch rollers finished in black paired with Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber in 225/40/18 sizing.

On the outside, the BRZ tS’s styling gets more aggressive with a front under spoiler, STI and tS emblems, black mirrors, black roof antenna and fender garnish. Inside, there’s also plenty of STI logos with an exclusive speedometer, carbon tone instrument panel and an exclusive leather-wrapped steering wheel. Colors available on the Subaru BRZ tS include Sunrise Yellow, WR Blue Pearl, Crystal White Pearl and Crystal Black Silica.

Unfortunately, engine performance hasn’t been enhanced, so buyers will still get the standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
