Three Honda Civics Americans Can’t Buy
While roaming the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this week, I went to the Honda booth for the sole purpose of drooling over the amazing Project 2&4 Concept. Before even finding the little concept, I walked through Honda’s enormous “booth” that took up nearly the entire building, and was stunned by all the foreign Civics I saw.
My first thought was, “Oh these are cool!” And then that brief excitement quickly turned into raging jealousy with a touch of anger. North Americans don’t get a lot of neat stuff Asian and European countries get, and here are three Honda Civics I really wish were sold here.
1. Honda Civic Type R
The Honda Civic Tourer wagon recently set a world record for fuel efficiency. Two drivers took the stock diesel wagon on a 8,387-mile road trip across Europe and returned an average of 100.31 mpg on EU’s test cycle.
I can understand why Honda doesn’t sell this model in America. It seems like people just don’t like wagons or efficiency, cargo capacity and car-like driving dynamics – wagons haven’t sold well here ever since the SUV/crossover boom began. Still, this is a cool Civic, and I think there would be some active/sporty types here who would appreciate the extra cargo capacity the Tourer has to offer.
Despite all this, the new 2016 Honda Civic that was just revealed this week looks very promising. It has been given a bumper-to-bumper makeover and gets a ton of new features and a new turbocharged engine. Check out our First Look Video below:
