BBC’s Top Gear Returning in May 2016

The new face of BBC’s Top Gear will debut on May 8.

Following months of shakeup after Jeremy Clarkson’s firing, Top Gear will usher in a new era with new host Chris Evans at the helm next May. Filming on the new show will finish on May 5, Evans confirmed during an interview on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen. The new host also said that producers have “already started making the films.” A total of 16 episodes will air next year on BBC2 and Evans didn’t hint on who his co-presenters or guests will be. It was previously confirmed that the new show would drop the previous three-host format.

The new Top Gear team will also head to U.S. next January for its first inter-continental.

Former hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will debut their new show on Amazon Prime next fall. The name of their new show is still unknown, but Amazon has signed up for three 12-episode seasons with each show expected to run about 60 minutes.

Jeremy Clarkson was fired after a “fracas” that involved him punching a producer earlier this year. Co-hosts Hammond and May decided to stick with Clarkson after his departure to work on the new show with Amazon.
