Maserati GranTurismo Recalled for Faulty Door Latch
The Maserati GranTurismo coupe and convertible models are being recalled for an issue with its passenger-side door latch.
The recall affects less than 300 units from the 2016 model year with the Italian automaker saying that during manufacturing, the passenger-side door latch may not have received the necessary heat treatment to effectively withstand expected transverse loads. That means if the passenger-side door is subjected to loads during a crash, the non-heat-treated door latch components could potentially fail, leading to the door accidentally opening and placing the passenger at greater risk of injury.

The issue was first reported by the component’s supplier, Magna, after a latch failed to meet proper specs during a routine test. In addition, the components were accidentally mislabeled as being heat-treated. Upon discovery, Maserati quickly launched an investigation and issued the recall.
Those with affected vehicles will receive a new door latch assembly that will take about an hour to install.
