Subaru WRX, Forester Recalled Over Cracking Turbo Ducts

Subaru is calling back about 18,000 vehicles in the U.S. over poorly made turbocharger intake ducts. 

Certain 2015-2016 WRX and Forester 2.0XT are susceptible to this issue, which is a cracking turbocharger air intake duct that can lead to loss of power, rough idle or a full engine stall.

A vehicle defect was reported to Subaru by an Australian customer which sparked the investigation that led to this recall. Subaru says the supplier used the wrong material to make a certain lot of turbo ducts.

Subaru technicians will inspect the ducts and replace them if they carry an affected lot number.

A timeline for when the recall will take place hasn’t been announced.
