2018 Ford Mustang May Use 10-Speed Auto
The 2018 Ford Mustang could be offered with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Although it’s unofficial, Mustang6g received the above screenshot of the 10-speed automatic transmission listed in Microcat, the online database system that Ford dealerships use to look up parts for its vehicles. Ford and Chevy jointly developed the 10-speed automatic transmission, which is set to be used in the Ford F-150 and Chevy Camaro.
Recently, Chevrolet claimed that the new 10-speed automatic transmission shifts faster than Porsche’s PDK dual-clutch transmission, with the Camaro ZL1 being the first volume production car to be equipped with a 10-speed automatic.

It also makes sense for the Ford Mustang to receive the same transmission, since Ford had its hands in developing the unit. And since the Mustang and the Camaro have been close competitors for decades, the Mustang needs an answer to the ZL1’s 10-speed offering.
The two automakers also worked together to develop a nine-speed automatic transmission for front-wheel-drive vehicles.
