Volkswagen Receives Approval in Germany for Diesel Fix
Volkswagen has received approval for a software solution that will fix more than 800,000 diesel vehicles in Germany.
Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) has approved the technical solutions for the Volkswagen Passat, CC and Eos models equipped with a 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine and affected owners in Germany will receive letters from Volkswagen so they can arrange a service appointment. The approval is a continuation of the retrofit campaign for affected vehicles started by the German automaker earlier this year. According to Volkswagen, the retrofit will make sure all cars will meet legal requirements and the KBA has also “confirmed unequivocally that the technical solutions for these models will not result in any changes to the fuel consumption, performance or noise emissions of the vehicle concerned.”

The company remains adamant that it is working at full speed to implement the technical solutions so that it can rectify all vehicles that are emitting more NOx than is legal.
Owners with a 1.2-liter TDI engine will have to wait a bit longer, as Volkswagen confirmed that recall campaign will be delayed. It was initially planned to launch in the second quarter of 2016.
