2017 Ford F-150 3.5L EcoBoost Torque Boosted to 470 LB-FT

Ford has boosted the output of its turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine for the 2017 F-150 up to 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. 

That is an extra 10 hp and 50 lb-ft of torque compared to the current version of this powerplant. Not only has power been boosted, but the engine has also been paired with a new 10-speed automatic transmission that Ford says helps provide more low-end and peak performance.

These numbers give the F-150 the most torque in the half-ton segment, outgunning Chevy’s 6.2-liter V8 by 10 lb-ft of torque.

Ford now sells more than 60 percent of its F-150s with EcoBoost turbocharged engines, two of which are offered with their half-ton pickup, the aforementioned 3.5-liter V6 and a smaller 2.7-liter V6.

Though Ford did not specify, this engine will presumably also act as the powerplant in the new F-150 Raptor, Ford’s hardcore off-road variant of its pickup.

The new 2017 F-150 will hit dealerships this fall and more details on the truck will surely arrive before launch.
