Porsche 918 Spyder Recalled to Address Seat Belt Issue

1

A mistake in a parts catalog has resulted in a recall for the Porsche 918 Spyder.

According to Porsche, the original parts catalog for the hybrid exotic inadvertently transposed the locations for the screws that secure the seat belt mount and the belt reel mount. Since the screws are one-time use and are not the same, the company is not ruling out the possibility that technicians might have installed the wrong screw in the wrong location.

Although it is a minor component, Porsche said the seat belt system could be compromised in the event of an accident so it will recall the 918 Spyder to verify the correct type of screw was used.

If the screws were used in the wrong place, Porsche will replace them with the correct ones. No accidents or injuries related to the recall have been reported.
