Fiat 124 Coupe Could Happen and This is What it Might Look Like

The Fiat 124 Spyder is currently only offered as a soft-top convertible, but it may not be that way for long. 

According to Autocar, Fiat is busy working on a fixed-roof variant of the 124 Spider which will likely show up as a high-performance variant. Unlike its sister car the Mazda MX-5, the Fiat won’t offer a retractable hardtop option.

New renders (seen above) show exactly what this car could look like if it does go with a fixed roof.

The base Spider’s 154-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder doesn’t exactly scream performance, so the Abarth Spider’s 178-hp version of the engine seems like the most likely option for the coupe.

Pricing for the fixed roof car is said to be about 10 percent more than the convertible, which would put the base price around $31,000 assuming it’s based on the performance-focused Abarth model.

Fiat engineers will design the car, while it will be built at Mazda’s Hiroshima plant, the same location where the current 124 Spider is built.
