Ford’s Funky Crossover Reportedly Getting Discontinued
The funky Ford Flex will reportedly get discontinued in 2020.
Canadian auto workers union Unifor recently revealed the American automaker’s plans after reaching a tentative labor contract with the company, avoiding a strike after last-minute negotiations. Unifor officials said Ford plans to discontinue the Flex in 2020, which corresponds with the automaker’s increased investment in its Oakville, Ontario, plant, where the Flex is currently built along with the Edge, Lincoln MKX and MKT models. Ford is expected to upgrade the Edge and MKX in a few years, suggesting the Flex no longer has a future.
It’s currently unclear whether the Lincoln MKT will also be discontinued, since it shares its architecture with the Ford Flex.

Although sales of the Flex were up 13.1 percent through the first nine months of this year in the U.S. to 17,034 units, the model is a small piece of the pie for Ford’s overall 1.9 million units sold during the same period.
