Aston Martin to Build 25 New Examples of the Classic DB4 GT
Aston Martin is picking up where it left off 56 years ago by building a new run of 25 lightweight DB4 GTs.
Aston Marin Works will remain faithful to the original 8 examples of the lightweight DB4 GT with the new continuation models and just like the original, the new DB4 GT will be a shorter, lighter and more powerful version of the car. Under the hood is a 3.7-liter straight-six that sends 340 horsepower to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential, just like the original car.
Aston Martin says that its Works department uses “old world craftsmanship and modern technique” to build these modern classics, which results in improved engine performances, handling, braking and safety. The DB4 GT is a two-seater that features aluminum panels pitted over a tubular frame.

The car won’t be street legal and Aston is arranging a two-year international track program that will allow customers to arrive at the track and drive their car without needing to worry about transport. Aston’s dedicated driver team will also be on hand to give instructions to the owners.
Each new continuation car will come with its own VIN number continued from chassis 0202R, keeping the lineup of cars in order, despite the half century gap in production.
All 25 of the cars are already sold out with each going for $1.9 million, while Aston Martin says that the classic versions are worth about $3.7 million.
“Aston Martin has a rich and vibrant heritage, as you’d expect from a company that has been building some of the world’s finest sports cars for 103-years,” said Dr. Andy Palmer, Aston Martin President and CEO. “Of those the DB4 G.T. stands proud as one of the most coveted of all. It’s a mark of Aston Martin’s breadth of abilities that in the same year we launched the DB11 – our most advanced ‘DB’ production car ever – we can also embark on an adventure such as the DB4 G.T. Continuation.”
The first DB4 GT Continuation models will be delivered in the third quarter of 2017.
