The McLaren 650S Replacement Now has a Name
McLaren is already working on a replacement for its 650S supercar, and now that car has a name.
Said to be called the McLaren 720S by Autogespot, the car is currently under development and goes by the codename P14. Assuming McLaren’s naming convention doesn’t change, this new badge suggests that the car will have 720 horsepower.
A new powerplant will reportedly provide power, a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, rather than the 3.8-liter turbo V8 that currently powers the British automaker’s entire lineup. Electrification of some kind is also in the cards for the 720S, the first evidence of the massive $1.4 billion investment into hybrid systems that the British brand announced for its future cars, though the hybrid system isn’t expected to join the lineup until sometime after launch.

The 720S is also rumored to have a system that will lower the dashboard of the car in track mode to afford the driver a better view, but we’ll believe that when we see it.
Expect the new McLaren to make its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March.
