A Porsche Dealer Just Spilled the Beans on the Cayman GT4 RS

A high-performance Porsche Cayman GT4 RS seems to be on the way.

CarAdvice managed to snap a screenshot of Porsche Centre Brisbane’s post on Instagram that was drumming up interest for a Cayman GT4 RS with a more powerful 4.0-liter flat-six engine. The problem is that Porsche hasn’t officially announced a Cayman GT4 RS and as such, the post has since been removed. There have been plenty of rumors of a hotter Cayman GT4 RS model, so it doesn’t come as a huge surprise that one could debut in the near future, possibly at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

A Porsche spokesperson denied that a Cayman GT4 RS is coming since it could deter current sales. When the original Cayman GT4 debuted at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, Porsche Motorsport head Andreas Preuninger hinted at the possibility of a faster and lighter RS variant. Currently, the Cayman GT4 is powered by a 3.8-liter flat-six engine with 385 horsepower and a six-speed manual transmission, so a larger and more powerful 4.0-liter engine paired with weight-saving modifications would follow Porsche’s traditional formula of track cars for the street.
