Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet is an Open-Air Off-Roader
Mercedes-Maybach has been teasing a new G-Class Landaulet model, but before it makes its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show, the model has leaked in a video.
Spotted by AutoMailRU, the vehicle seen is based on the current-generation G-Class and we all know that’s on its way out. The current frame has been used since 1990 and even though many believe you shouldn’t touch such a classic design, the SUV is long overdue for a makeover, even if it isn’t a drastic one. If this does turn out to be the Mercedes-Maybach G650, chances are the German automaker is bidding farewell with a celebratory, ultra-luxurious model.

But what makes it really unique is the foldable top, making it a Landaulet variant. Under the hood, it is believed to feature the same powerplant found in the G65, generating as much as 630 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. Exterior enhancements are borrowed from the G500 4×4², like the carbon fiber wheel arches, more aggressive front and rear bumpers and an LED light strip above the spare tire, serving as a third brake light.
According to the Instagram post, the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet will be limited to 99 units and will certainly cost a pretty penny. Look for a confirmation at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show next month.
