Poll: Ford GT or Lamborghini Aventador?
Supercars are all amazing pieces of engineering, scary fast with incredible grip wrapped in styling that never fails to draw a crowd.
But we all have our favorites. You may be partial to products from Maranello, perhaps Gaydon’s greatest really tickle your fancy. But in this exotic realm, would you rather have a Lamborghini or a Ford?
Yes, in this poll we’re pitting the legendary Aventador against Dearborn’s brand-new GT in an internet popularity contest. Which model are you going to vote for?
In “base” form, the Lamborghini in this tossup features a glorious 6.5-liter V12 that delivers 690 horsepower, enough to push the angular Aventador to 62 miles an hour in less than 3.0 seconds. A seven-speed semi-automatic transmission can shift in the blink of an eye, enabling this shocking performance.
Helping it handle all that power is a cutting-edge pushrod suspension system that was inspired by Formula One cars. Its carbon fiber-monocoque structure could also be used in racing.
As for the Ford, its measly V6 engine could have been pulled from a Taurus, or so you might think at first blush. It may be down half-a-dozen cylinders, but this twin-turbocharged EcoBoost lump delivers the goods, 647 horsepower, nearly as much as the Aventador offers, with 550 lb-ft of torque (though it probably doesn’t sound as glorious). It’s matched to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Like its Italian rival, the GT is made largely of carbon fiber and features a cutting-edge suspension arrangement, one with an adjustable ride height and three-mode dampers.
As for pricing, the blue-oval offering in this comparison is decidedly NOT blue collar, stickering for around $450,000, about $10K more than the Aventador.
