Alfa Romeo’s SUV has Claimed a Nurburgring Record
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio is now the fastest production SUV around the Nurburgring, recording a lap time of 7:51.7, which is eight seconds faster than the previous record holder.
It’s the fastest time ever posted by a production SUV, and joins the Giulia Quadrifoglio, which holds the Nurburgring lap record for fastest four-door production car.
Driving the car on the record-setting lap was Fabio Francia, the same driver who set the record in the Giulia Quadrifolgio with a 7:32 time.

Although it may be an SUV, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio is designed to offer a sports car-like driving experience. The model integrates lightweight, state-of-the-art materials, helping deliver perfect 50/50 weight distribution, segment-leading torsional rigidity, class-exclusive carbon fiber driveshaft, and the most direct steering available, says Alfa Romeo.
Powering the Stelvio Quadrifoglio is the same powerplant found in the Giulia Quadrifoglio, a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine sourced from Ferrari. It generates 510 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque and is paired with a standard Q4 all-wheel-drive system.
