Volvo Buys Digital Valet Service, Luxe
Volvo today is expanding its digital services wing with the purchase of Luxe, a premium valet and concierge service from Silicon Valley.
Luxe has operated in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and more, where customers could drop their cars off wherever they wanted and let a professional valet pick it up to take care of parking it. The acquisition will allow Volvo to offer similar services such as pickup, drop off, cleaning, and even refueling.
“As more and more of our cars are connected, the availability of digital services becomes a critical part of the process of selecting a new car,” said Atif Rafiq, Volvo’s Chief Digital Officer. “Simplification of experience and placing control directly into the hands of the consumer is what today’s technologies enable, and what defines our vision in the digital space.”
Volvo will pick up Luxe’s software and technology platform, as well as its data scientists, app developers, and software engineers. The purchase also gives the automaker a presence in the center of digital advancement, Silicon Valley.

“I look forward to working closely with the highly talented team at Luxe who created its advanced technology from the ground up,” said Rafiq.
In its continued pursuit of creating safe cars that anticipate customer demands, Volvo wants its digital services to take care of all the minor tasks associated with car ownership.
“Our vision is a future in which technology simplifies life so you never have to stop at a petrol station, go to a car wash or even take your car in for service ever again,” said Rafiq. “The acquisition of Luxe is a step towards realizing that ambition.”
Volvo is not revealing how much the purchase cost because that would tacky.
