Four Ford Focus Hot Hatches are Getting the SEMA Treatment
At least four Ford Focus hot hatches will be showing up at the company’s display at the 2017 SEMA Show.
The American automaker has begun releasing previews for its upcoming SEMA projects, and if history dictates, Ford will have plenty of them to show off in Las Vegas later this month. To kick things off, Ford has released renders for three Focus RS projects and one Focus ST, showing off the hot hatch as a tuner platform.
The sole Focus ST project will be easy to see on the show floor, even in the sea of hundreds of modified vehicles. Sporting a Midnight Purple exterior, the Focus ST packs even more of a punch thanks to a FullRace turbo kit, Ford Performance exhaust, and tuning by Blood Type Racing. Giving it a more menacing stance is an Air Lift Performance air suspension, while a Wilwood big brake kit improves stopping performance. Other exterior modifications include Rally Innovations splitter kit and rear hatch wing, as well as a Thule roof rack system. The Focus ST will roll on 19-inch B-Forged Performance wheels wrapped with Toyo T1 Sports tires.

Then there’s the trio of modified Ford Focus RS hatchbacks, starting with the “TriAthlete” that aims to perform at the drag strip, the road course, or on America’s twisty backroads. A sinister matte black finish adorns the exterior further accented by custom airbrush art and lightweight carbon fiber pieces from Anderson Composites. Air Lift provides its Performance Series suspension, while under-the-hood performance gets boosted with a Ford Performance exhaust, COBB Tuning carbon fiber cold air intake, and Levels Performance intercooler. Wheels will come from Forgestar, with the brand’s CF5 adorning each corner, paired with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
Next up is another Focus RS project in collaboration with the Universal Technical Institute. The bright Axalta Pennzoil yellow paint will surely grab your attention, along with the 19-inch Rotiform wheels with Falken tires and Anderson Composites carbon fiber body accessories. FullRace contributes with an intake, intercooler, and piping, while BC Racing coilovers improve handling and ride height. Baer brakes can be found lurking behind each wheel. Interior upgrades include several Ford Accessories products including a carbon fiber shift knob, instrument cluster, and window switch cover.
Lastly, there’s a rally-inspired Focus RS project that benefits from several Mountune parts including a high-flow induction kit and full intercooler upgrade. All the exhaust fumes are expelled through a Borla three-inch catted downpipe that leads to a Ford Performance S-Type exhaust. Handling ride height is a set of RS-R Sports-i coilover suspension, while the 19-inch OZ Racing Superturismo GT wheels are a perfect fit for the rally look. Other exterior modifications include pieces from Rally Innovations and a wrap from Rolotech.
Ford promises to have over 50 vehicles on display at the 2017 SEMA Show in Las Vegas so expect to hear more from the American automaker in the coming weeks.
