Toyota Corolla iM Spied Testing its Actual New Body
The next Toyota Corolla could ride on the automaker’s all-new platform.
Known as the Toyota Auris in other markets, the Corolla iM started its life in North America as the Scion iM. But Toyota decided to kill off the Scion brand, resulting in the iM becoming the Corolla iM and sold under the Toyota brand. Previous sightings of the new Corolla iM were actual mules based on the current model, but this prototype is sporting the new body.
Unfortunately little is known about the new Toyota Corolla iM, but it is expected to debut in mid to late 2018. It will likely ride on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) that currently underpins the Prius and C-HR crossover.

With the new platform, it will allow the Japanese automaker to incorporate hybrid powertrains to the next-generation Corolla iM and Auris. Some rumors suggest engines may even come from BMW, since Toyota has a collaboration with the German automaker that has resulted in a new sports car platform being used on the Toyota Supra’s successor and new BMW Z4.
