Watch the Koenigsegg Agera RS Smash Bugatti’s 0-250-0 Record

Yesterday Koenigsegg shared a photo on its Facebook page of an Agera RS with the text “0-400-OMG” imposed beneath the car.

We took the cryptic photo as a direct threat to Bugatti’s record for accelerating to 400 km/h (that’s 249 mph) and braking back down to zero, and our hunch was spot on. Today the automaker released a video of its 1,341 horsepower Agera RS cracking the record by a significant margin with its test driver Niklas Wilja at the wheel. The 1,500 horsepower Bugatti Chiron completed the feat in 41.96 seconds, but the Agera RS embarrassed it with a time of 37.28s. Additionally, the video includes raw, unedited footage of the record-breaking run, so you know it’s legit.

We’re not entirely surprised to see the much lighter Agera RS beat the Chiron in an acceleration/braking test, but that doesn’t take away from the accomplishment. Bugatti has the backing of one of the world’as largest automakers, but Koenigsegg is a comparatively tiny operation with much less funding and less than 100 employees. We’ll be waiting patiently for Bugatti’s response after this utter humiliation. Chiron SS, anyone?
